Are you sure of the advices provided by trusted weight loss forum? A study reveals it

Forums are my best source to find info and real advices by other people. They are a very democratic mean to help you in your diet and give you all the support to achieve your goals.

Recently i read a research from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston about the value of the Diet forums to support internet users and give true advices.

Before you read this article, you could read my last post about the Best diet forums with a little review of them.

The researchers had evaluated the quality of posts in the forums to verify the respect of the clinical guidelines. They used a retrospective analysis of messages posted to 18 Internet weight loss forums during 1 month in 2006.

Here the results:

  • On 654 provisions of advice – 56 (8.6%) were erroneous and 19 of these 56 (34%) were subsequently corrected.
  • 43 (6.6%) provisions of advice were harmful, and 12 of these 43 (28%) were subsequently corrected.
