Today we celebrate the ‘World Cancer Day’. The World Cancer Day, organized by Uicc, the International Union for the Control of Cancer (UICC) with support from WHO, the World Health Organization, to inform the public on issues related to the cause of death in world.
According to WHO estimates, there are 84 million cancer deaths between 2005 and 2015 unless appropriate measures are taken.
Many cancers can be prevented by avoiding risk factors such as smoking. Also, if diagnosed in time, can be defeated with the right therapies.
A healthy diet and regular exercise are the main elements of a healthy lifestyle, while poor diet and physical inactivity – can be read on the website of WHO – are major risk factors for hypertension, high blood sugar, cholesterol, overweight and obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes.
It is estimated that the lack of exercise are the cause of 1.9 million deaths worldwide, while 2.7 million are attributable to inadequate consumption of fruits and vegetables.
