Candida is a type of yeast that frequently uses the human body as a host. When inside the body, Candida will quickly spread and cause a wide range of unpleasant symptoms. These symptoms commonly include: digestive problems, migraines, fatigue, acne, mood swings, coughing, muscle weakness, and chronic pain, among many other problems. Many times, patients suffering from these problems will have difficulty finding any cause for their condition.
Fortunately, the cause and cure for Candida is usually a person’s diet. A poor diet that is high in things, like sugar, alcohol, caffeine, gluten, preservatives, aged cheeses, vinegar, mushrooms, and certain oils and nuts, is usually the cause for Candida. These foods helps the Candida to grow and multiply, making the infection much worse. To get rid of Candida, sufferers can simply transform their diet into an anti yeast diet, which will limit the yeast’s food source and kill off the infection.
A Candida diet can even be combined with the Mediterranean diet for optimal nutrition. The Mediterranean diet focuses on healthy fats, like olive oil and raw nuts, legumes, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fish, and lean chicken breast. When combining the yeast elimination diet with the Mediterranean diet, dieters will want to stick to ricotta cheese and avoid all nuts, except walnuts, cashews, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, and pecans. More protein can even be added into one’s diet, in substitution for most of the fruit.
A sample menu for the anti yeast diet would look like this:
Breakfast:
â— Two pieces of rye bread with hummus, one cup of milk, and herbal tea
â— Scrambled eggs with lean turkey breast and herbal tea
Lunch:
â— Lean chicken breast with salad greens and vegetables
â— Grilled salmon or tilapia, seasoned with garlic and lemon, and paired with brown
rice and vegetables
Snack:
â— Handful of walnuts, cashews, and pecans
â— Small apple, orange, or other fruit, excluding melon and grapes
â— Reduced fat cottage cheese with berries
Dinner:
â— Grilled steak (lean cut), with sweet potato, and side salad
â— Grilled fish, with brown rice, and side of asparagus
Following a similar yeast detox diet plan will help to literally starve the yeast from the body. While it may be difficult to avoid sweets, caffeine, and alcohol, it is imperative until the Candida has been reduced to normal levels. Luckily, most dieters will find that once these substances are eliminated from their diet and the Candida has been reduced, their cravings for these foods will almost disappear. A Candida cleanse isn’t just good for eliminating yeast, but improving a dieter’s overall health as well.
