We all know breakfast is essential, but what we don’t know about the breakfast could pack on the pounds!
Juices
You may be thinking that gulping down a glass of fruit juice is a good way to start the day, but the majority of store bought varieties are full of sugar.
A much better idea may be to make a smoothie (Like this one here) or eat the fruit itself: Whole fruit provides all the minerals and vitamins of the fruit juice, and tummy filling dietary fiber that will help control food cravings until lunch.
Breakfast Pastries
Sugary cereals, pastries, cinnamon rolls, and bagels are tasty; however, they are likely to result in a spike in blood glucose, accompanied by a low energy crash and craving, which may result in a snack attack by mid morning.
Healthy Idea: You could try to make these brownies or biscuits.
Serving Sizes
A serving each of low fat protein, fruit, and whole grains is a good way to get your body and mind ready for the day. However, be sure that the number of calories you consume at breakfast works within your total daily calorie goal.
Healthy Idea: This is a good example to plan your breakfast.
Breakfast Bars
Breakfast bars often serve as quick on the go meals, but most of them have as many calories as dessert! Most commercial bars are usually oatmeal biscuits in disguise (with a lot more sugar than you need).
Healthy Idea: You can try to make these breakfast bars.
Never Skip Breakfast
Even if you wake up feeling full, don’t skip breakfast. Keep in mind that you have not had any nourishment since you went to bed. This can slow down your metabolism.
