It’s time to do a little summary of this year. My first intention was to write a list of the best posts, but it’s too boring.
Instead of a list of links to other pages, I’d like to share with you what I’ve learned with this blog during this period.
[P.S. I’ve updated the Mediterranean diet page. Have a look and read what’s new]
First of all I’ve learned that there is a lot of misinformation about what the Mediterranean diet really is.
By reading news papers and blogs, I’ve seen that the Med diet is represented with the stereotype of a salad with a flow of Olive Oil.
This is the worst picture of what it really is.
There are 3 main key elements:
- The Mediteranean diet is only a term invented by the Americans
- The Mediterranean diet is not a diet
- It’s only a combination of foods and lifestyles
That’s it! No more words, no more speculations, no more business that grow around it.
I’ve started this blog with the purpose to help people like me to learn simple basic principles to live better and forget weight and health problems.
It’s only about to understand:
What about people:
I had the opportunity to read and follow online communities and forums to see exactly what people need and search for.
After some months of readings I’m now convinced that there are 2 types of people:
- Those who understand that weight loss is a consequence of an healthy eating
- Those that think that overweight is a psychological problem (Their only purpose is to look nice to the others)
My good purpose for the next year is to write a guide to help them understand how to believe in their self. And then start thinking about diet and weight loss.
I’m collecting info and resources to write the next free ebook that will contains real life tips and experience to learn how to “lose weight with your mind”
What about the net:
I’ve seen a lot of news and comments about diets…there is a lot of pollution and confusion around it.
In a world where every body is an expert and every time that media release a new research on the benefits of the Mediterranean diet everyone writes something about it.
The bad news is that everyone say the same thing in different ways…but no one know exactly how to achieve the results promoted in the researches.
What about fad diets
It’s common to see someone “So called” expert that releases his “Miraculous diet” that quickly and easily will make you lose weight.
How many diet names are there? Akins, South Beach, Kimkins and so on….
They have transformed a serious thing in a business by selling their products.
Eating healthy is a right for everyone…we don’t have to pay to stay healthy.
Try to ask to my granny what’s the meaning of the term “diet”…you’ll receive a big laugh and an offer to eat a piece of cheese and fruit. We have lost the good lifestyles of our grannies. They lived with simple things and a family to love…this is all we need.
About this blog
The best thing I liked was the post where I wrote about a little comparison of the Mediterranean diet with the other fad diets.
After reading news like this I’ve decided to compare “Scientifically” the different types of food pyramids and the fad diets. I’ve noted that most of fad diets fail because they lack of nutritionals. Some lack of carbs, others lack of proteins.
If I’d choose another diet I’d prefer the Paleo diet It’s the only not commercially diet that preview the consumption of raw foods. I’m a fan of raw foods, they have great healthy properties.
Another surprising thing was the fact that I didn’t know to live together with “Super Health Heroes“:
What about you:
At least a special thanks to all of you. I wish for you a great, happy and healthy new year!
Buon feste e felice 2008
